An attorney called in with an urgent request. They needed a Westlaw citation for a court decision, and they needed it the same day.

Thiswasn’ta decision that was routinelyacquired. Itwasn’talready in the system. The clock was ticking, and there was no guarantee it could be found, processed, and published in time.

Kate MacEachern has been on the court opinion acquisition team at VRƵ for more than four decades. She’sthe person you want on the other end of that call.

In this case, they found the decision. They processed it. They got it into Westlaw within hours.

Tell us about your career at VRƵ.

I came to VRƵafter working at a law firmwhereI found my heart in providing the law for arguments, rather thanarguing forclients. My first job was writing headnotes for court decisions. Over time,I moved into handling requests, then helped with the development of graphicalKeyCite, the first visual version of citation history available commercially. I remember drawing out a complicated history chain on legalpaper, sheets pasted together, just to show how hard it was for attorneys to track the impact of interrelated decisions. Then the technology team built a way to draw those lines automatically, and that moment has always stayed with me.

I was a manager for a while, but I went back to being an individual contributor. I wanted to be“inthe work,”actively getting decisions to people faster. That’sstill what drives me.

What does “trusted expertise” actually mean at the ground level?

It means double-checking. An attorney sends us an interesting decision. We go to thecourtsource to get our own copy, not because wedon’ttrust the attorney, but because when we seek it out ourselves, we might spot a correction, a reconsideration, a later order that changes its status. We work hard to get vacated decisions flagged online,so researchersaren’trelying on lawthat’sno longer good. We add search terms, create links to cases and statutes, and provide editorial content that helps a researcher understand an area of law they may be walking into cold. Trustedexpertiseis everything from careful acquisition to the context we wrap around the content. We do more with the content, and we do more with the context.

You’vesaid the work sits at the foundation of everything else. What do you mean by that?

Everything starts with the interpretation of law, and thatincludescourt decisions. My work gets those decisions into the hands of the people who need them. If we miss a key decision, nobody can find it to cite. All the analytical works, the Practical Law content, the encyclopedic guides, everything isbuilt on that foundation.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career?

There have been so many proud moments over theyears:anattorney praisingthe work ofWestlaw, or a colleague and I celebrating after tracking down a hard-to-find decision for a customer.

How has AI changed the way you work?

AI has transformed how wesearch outand evaluate court decisions, helping us uncover relevant cases that might have been difficult to find in the past. By combining AI-powered analysis with humanexpertiseand judgment, we can review far more decisions andidentifythe ones that matter most to researchers. It’sa remarkable shiftfrom the days when opinionsarrivedin prepaid envelopesby mail.Andit’smoving faster every day.

In your own words, what doesbeinga changemaker mean to you?

Beingisbeing someone who cares. I care about my work. I care aboutourcustomers.Whenthere’san opportunityto do it better, weadapt.Change can behard:implementing a new system, learning what the new failure points are, andfinding new ways to navigate when the map has shifted. We move forward. We deliver things that were unthought of before: graphical citation history, decisions online in minutes instead of days, decisions that never would have been accessible in the past.

Thank you,Kate,for sharing your story.

Driving global impact through Pro Bono: Inside the 2026 VRƵ Social Impact Sprint /en-us/posts/our-purpose/2026-thomson-reuters-social-impact-sprint/ Fri, 29 May 2026 14:07:38 +0000 https://blogs.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/?post_type=our_purpose_post&p=71143 At VRƵ, we believe that professional expertise can be a powerful force for good. This commitment comes to life through our annual Social Impact Sprint, a global initiative that connects our employees with nonprofit organizations to deliver high-impact, pro bono consulting.

Now in its sixth year, the 2026 Social Impact Sprint brought together colleagues and nonprofit partners from around the world for a day of collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact. The results underscore the potential of skills-based volunteering to strengthen communities and accelerate nonprofit missions.

A global effort with local impact

Six individuals on a teams call posing for a photo

This year’s Sprint mobilized more than 160 VRƵ employees, who partnered with 40 nonprofit organizations across 11 countries, contributing over 1,300 hours of pro bono service. This work represents an estimated $287,000 USD* in skilled consulting support; all provided at no cost to participating organizations.

From grassroots initiatives to established nonprofits, each engagement focused on addressing real-world challenges including, but not limited to, strategic planning, communications and operational improvements. Teams collaborated across regions, including the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, with in-person events held in Mexico City and London, complementing a strong virtual presence.

Empowering nonprofits through expertise and technology

A defining feature of this year’s Sprint was the integration of AI-powered tools into project work. VRƵ volunteers leveraged solutions, such as Copilot, to help nonprofits enhance their marketing, streamline operations, and explore new ways to scale their impact. For many organizations, this marked an important step in their digital transformation journey, unlocking new efficiencies and capabilities that extend well beyond the Sprint itself. The results were clear: participating nonprofits received high-quality deliverables designed for lasting impact, from improved infrastructure to stronger strategic direction.

Investing in people and purpose

A large team of individuals posing for a photo in front of a screen

The Social Impact Sprint also reflects VRƵ commitment to employee growth and engagement. Participants gain the opportunity to apply their professional skills in new contexts while building leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving capabilities.

In 2026:

  • 64% of participants were first-time volunteers, bringing fresh perspectives and energy
  • 100% of consultants reported that their work would have meaningful impact for partner organizations
  • 100% expressed interest in participating again, highlighting the program’s value and appeal

By working across functions and geographies, employees not only contribute to social good, they also deepen their understanding of global challenges and strengthen their connection to purpose.

Creating lasting impact together through the Social Impact Sprint

Beyond a single day of service, the Social Impact Sprint is designed to create enduring value. Nonprofits leave with practical tools, actionable strategies, and new ideas to advance their missions. Employees leave with expanded skills, new perspectives, and a renewed sense of impact.

The success of the program reflects what’s possible when knowledge, innovation, and collaboration come together. As we continue to expand this work, we remain focused on reaching more communities, deepening partnerships, and leveraging our collective expertise to build a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Building the Future of Legal Content: A Conversation with a Senior Specialist Legal Editor /en-us/posts/our-purpose/building-the-future-of-legal-content-a-conversation-with-a-senior-specialist-legal-editor/ Mon, 11 May 2026 14:45:05 +0000 https://blogs.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/?post_type=our_purpose_post&p=70882 The legal profession is experiencing unprecedented transformation as artificial intelligence reshapes how lawyers research, analyze, and deliver legal services. At VRƵ, we’re not just observing this evolution, we’re shaping it. Our Practical Law team combines deep legal expertise with cutting-edge AI technology to create trusted, practical guidance that helps legal professionals navigate complex challenges with confidence.

We sat down with Rosida Carpagnano, Senior Specialist Legal Editor at Practical Law Global, to explore what it means to be at the forefront of this transformation. Based in Rome with over 20 years of private practice experience in M&A and commercial matters, Rosida joined VRƵ in November 2019 and writes Practical Law Italian corporate law content while contributing to our Practical Law expansion into France and Germany. Her insights reveal why this is such an exciting time to join our Practical Law content team.

What drew you to VRƵ and Practical Law?

What attracted me to Practical Law was a combination of factors: the opportunity to build a product that is both local in its relevance and global in its reach, the flexibility to organize my work and the healthy work-life balance made possible by the hybrid nature of the role. I was also attracted by the chance to work as part of an international team, while staying closely connected to the Italian legal community I know well. VRƵ strong global reputation was another important factor in my decision.

The transition from private practice to VRƵ allowed me to leverage my legal expertise in a completely different way. Instead of advising individual clients, I now help shape resources that support thousands of legal professionals globally.

How would you describe your daily role as a Senior Specialist Legal Editor (SSLE)?

A typical day as an SSLE is a mix of writing new content, reviewing contributed materials, second-reading colleagues’ work, updating existing resources, and collaborating with colleagues on shared topics and projects. The priorities can shift throughout the year, and sometimes from week to week depending on customer and product needs. What I enjoy most is that balance between focused editorial work and collaboration with colleagues.

This dynamic nature keeps the role engaging and ensures that our content remains responsive to the evolving needs of legal professionals. No two days are exactly alike, which reflects the fast-paced nature of both the legal industry and the AI technology space we operate in.

How is the Senior Specialist Legal Editor role evolving with AI and legal technology?

The SSLE role is evolving alongside the wider transformation of the legal sector, and AI is a key part of that change. At VRƵ, we are encouraged to play an active role in this transformation, including by using AI tools in a safe and thoughtful way to improve efficiency in our work and sharing what we learn with the wider team.

Our legal expertise is instrumental to developing and training our AI-powered products. It is very much a collective effort, and one of the most interesting aspects of the role today is the opportunity to contribute directly to how legal expertise is delivered through new technologies.

This represents the future of legal content creation, where human expertise and AI capabilities work together to deliver unprecedented value to our customers. We’re not just adapting to AI; we’re actively shaping how it serves the legal profession.

Why is now an exciting time to join the Practical Law team?

We’re growing our Practical Law content in France and Germany and that creates real opportunity. This is a chance to join at a moment of expansion, shape the direction of our content, and have a visible strategic impact as the business scales into these jurisdictions.

How does your work as a legal editor help customers?

As a legal editor, you help lawyers do their jobs better every day. Your work turns complex law into practical, trusted and maintained content that informs and saves busy professionals time and therefore supports confident decision making.

What excites you most about the future of legal content and legal research?

Legal work is changing, and so is how lawyers access answers. Being part of a team that combines deep legal expertise with AI and innovative research tools and helps set the standard for the future, is challenging and exciting at the same time.

We’re at a unique moment where traditional legal expertise meets transformative technology. VRƵ powers business-critical professions with AI they can trust in the moments that matter, and our Practical Law team is central to that mission.

Building Tomorrow’s Legal Solutions Today

As we continue expanding our Practical Law content globally, we’re seeking qualified legal professionals in France and Germany who share our vision of combining deep expertise with innovative technology. Whether you’re an experienced practitioner looking for a new challenge or a legal professional excited about the intersection of law and AI, VRƵ offers the opportunity to shape the future of legal content while maintaining the work-life balance that enables your best work.

Andrew’s journey from Internship to AI research leader /en-us/posts/our-purpose/andrews-journey-from-internship-to-ai-research-leader/ Wed, 15 Apr 2026 18:11:40 +0000 https://blogs.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/?post_type=our_purpose_post&p=70396 In the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI), one word stands out as the foundation of everything we do at VRƵ: trust. As we continue to lead the charge in developing fiduciary-grade AI for professionals where accuracy, accountability, and transparency are non-negotiable, our team members are at the forefront of this transformation.

We recently sat down with Andrew, a Research Scientist on our Foundational Research team, to explore what makes VRƵ a unique place to build a career in AI. From our comprehensive AI sandbox environments to our investments in cutting-edge solutions like CoCounsel and the development of our vertically specialized foundation model, hear Andrew’s perspective on why now is the ideal time to join our mission of powering business-critical professions with AI they can trust.

How would you describe working at VRƵ in one word?

If I had to describe working at VRƵ in one word, it would betrust. In my work leading evaluations for the development of our own specialized LLM Thomson, I spend a lot of time thinking about trust in high-stakes professional domains. Trust is also central to the way our team works. It’s an environment where there’s ample room to take ownership and drive new ideas. That internal culture was clear to me during my internship, and it played a big role in my decision to join VRƵ full-time.

What made you decide to stay with VRƵ after your internship?

Throughout my internship, trust and opportunity were constant themes. At one point, I wanted to significantly expand the scope of a project I was working on, and my manager set up a meeting for me to present the plan to our Chief Technology Officer for approval, which we got. That experience reinforced for me that this is a place where taking the initiative to push for ambitious goals is encouraged and supported. I expect that project to yield important findings for how we think about and use AI in professional work, both internally and in what we publish externally.

What is the most important part of building AI for professionals in highly regulated industries?

I think one of the most important things about building AI for professionals is getting the details right. Much of my time is spent working directly with attorneys, journalists, and accountants to design evaluations closely tied to real problems in their work. We’re constantly thinking about key priorities like accuracy and reliability, and we also try to get into the details about what would really make an AI system useful for the fiduciary professionals we serve.

What is most exciting about your role at VRƵ?

What excites me most about my role at VRƵ is the chance to work with the latest developments in machine learning as they emerge and use them to address real problems during our model development. Trust is a fundamental challenge with LLMs, because you can’t always predict exactly what a model will return from a given query. As a team, we’ve been doing a lot of foundational research on making AI systems more trustworthy, and we’ve seen strong results, especially in integrating trusted information from established sources like Westlaw.

Why is now the right time to join VRƵ?

If you’re considering joining the team, don’t wait. We’re at an exciting moment with the development of our own purpose-built LLM, but there are still so many exciting problems to solve. Our team is growing fast to keep up with all the ideas and projects we want to explore. It’s a rare opportunity to shape the way AI transforms high-stakes work.

Ready to be part of a team that’s not just riding the AI wave, but reshaping the future of professional work? We’re actively hiring across TR Labs and our research and technology teams.

More than most people would expect.

Since its launch in 2021 by theVRƵ Social Impact Institute, the Social Impact Sprint has grown into an annual global hackathon that connects VRƵ employees with nonprofit organizations to drive meaningful social impact.

The Sprint is built around focused, high-impact pro bono projects. VRƵ partners with nonprofits to identify specific strategic or capacity-building challenges, then brings together teams of employees with the right expertise to help address it. These pro bono consultants represent a wide range of disciplines, including marketing, branding, product development, technology, and HR.

Working side by side in a fun, fast-paced environment, employeesand nonprofit partners collaborate to develop practical solutions. During a dynamic five-hour virtual session, nonprofit organizations receive hands-on support and leave with tangible deliverables, actionable insights, new connections, and an average of $8,000 in consulting value, all at no cost.

Over the past five years, 450 pro bono consultants have volunteered more than 4,800 hours to support 180 nonprofit organizations around the world, delivering more than $1 million in pro bono consulting value.

The Social Impact Sprint delivers impact on multiple levels: it gives VRƵ employees meaningful opportunities to grow as leaders and build new skills, while helping nonprofit partners strengthen their organizations and advance their missions.

Hear directly from past participants about what makes the program so valuable.

I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and it was a wonderful experience. It was amazing working with my team.” – Linda, Pro Bono Consultant, United States

“I think thatit’samazing what you can do in a day when you put your heads to it, when you get a group of really engaged people, smart people in the room, and everybody pulls their weight. It’sincredible what you can come out with at the end of just a few hours.” – Shirley, Nonprofit Participant, Canada

Working with such talented, purpose-driven people to support an incredible nonprofit is something I’ll carry with me forever. Truly one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career.”– Mariana, Pro Bono Consultant, Mexico

The 2026 Sprint

That kind of impactdoesn’thappen by accident. It happens because people show up with their skills, their time, and a genuine commitment to making a difference. This year, virtual and in-person Sprint events will take place around the world from April 27 to May 1, 2026, with more than 40 nonprofit partners taking part. The Social Impact Sprint is a reminder that some of the most powerfulchange doesn’trequire years or large budgets;sometimes it just takes the right people in a room, and a few focused hours to make it count.

A Journey of Innovation in Content Operations /en-us/posts/our-purpose/a-journey-of-innovation-in-content-operations/ Fri, 10 Apr 2026 13:44:00 +0000 https://blogs.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/?post_type=our_purpose_post&p=67931 As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape how organizations operate, the key to successful adoption lies not just in the technology itself, but in how teams thoughtfully integrate AI into their existing workflows and new products. We had the chance to chat with Emleen Martin, a Manager of Content Operations in Manila to explore her team’s AI journey, from building foundational capabilities to implementing practical solutions that enhance their content acquisition processes.

Can you tell us about your role and how your team fits into VRƵ’ broader mission?

I’m a Manager in Content Operations in the Manila office. My team specializes in content acquisition: identifying, validating, and delivering the legal and regulatory materials that keep our products comprehensive and current. While our core expertise is content, we are deliberately building capability in AI. We’re developing effective prompting skills, conducting focused experiments, and integrating practical AI support into day-to-day tasks. This work aligns with VRƵ’ AI strategy by applying responsible, human-centered tools to enhance quality and consistency for our customers.

What enables your team to successfully experiment with AI while maintaining quality standards?

VRƵ’ culture is crucial to our progress. Leaders encourage measured experimentation with clear guardrails, fostering learning while maintaining rigorous standards. We benefit from formal training, communities of practice, and mentorship from technology partners who share guidance and lessons learned. This support allows a content-led team to adopt AI in a disciplined manner, without compromising editorial judgment or customer trust.

What specific AI implementations have been most effective in your daily operations?

Our most effective changes have been simple and targeted. For example, we’ve piloted prompts that facilitate structured selection of documents that are valid and substantive for acquisition. We’ve also implemented AI solutions that replace manual effort in organizing and preparing content for downstream processes. My responsibilities include defining the problem, setting practical guardrails, and ensuring that human review remains central to decision-making. The focus is on building reliable steps that reduce friction for users and strengthen downstream quality for customers.

How do you measure the success of these AI implementations?

The impact appears in operational metrics and feedback from stakeholders. We’ve shortened certain repetitive steps, which aggregates to meaningful time savings. Users report fewer interruptions and more capacity for higher-value tasks. We evaluate success using straightforward indicators—turnaround time, error rates, and partner feedback—and we retain only those approaches that consistently improve these measures.

Can you describe the internal AI Day event you organized for the office?

In May, I led the first internal AI Day in our Manila office. The event highlighted internal success stories and live demonstrations, followed by workshops on Responsible AI, Copilot and Power Platform, and meta prompting. We had collaborative sessions such as Team AI Journeys and an hour to focus on our internal AI sandbox. These sessions promoted knowledge sharing and cross-functional engagement. We also included engaging activities like a “Spot the AI” challenge, a word search, an AI ethics wall for perspectives on responsible use, and a Freedom Wall for personal accounts of AI’s impact. We hosted an AI Learning Café as well, offering a quiet venue for TED Talks and curated reading materials. The feedback on the event was overwhelmingly positive, indicating a strong desire to repeat it soon.

Thank you to Emleen for sharing your experience with us. If you are interested in learning more about the Content Operations team or our open roles in Manila, you can learn more .

From Sales to Series A: A Venture Capital Career Story /en-us/posts/our-purpose/from-sales-to-series-a-a-venture-capital-career-story-at-thomson-reuters/ Mon, 30 Mar 2026 21:23:36 +0000 https://blogs.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/?post_type=our_purpose_post&p=70147 The path to venture investing isn’t always linear, but for one VRƵ professional, every pivot has been powered by an entrepreneurial mindset and a focus on learning new skills.

We sat down with Josef, a Venture Capital Principal on our VRƵ Venture team to explore his career evolution, the entrepreneurial mindset that drives success at VRƵ, and why this is an exciting time to join our organization as we reshape the future of professional work.

Tell us about your career journey and what led you to VRƵ Ventures.

My career journey is often described as a series of pivots, but there’s actually a single thread that ties it all together: the entrepreneurial spirit. This mindset was ingrained in me early by my Lebanese father, who taught me the power of community and networking, and my Italian mother, who taught me the art of debate and negotiation.

I joke that I started my career as a Christmas Tree Salesman, but that job taught me that everything is sales. Whether I was navigating the complex ad-tech world at MediaMath in their marketing engineer program, driving digital innovation for global giants like L’Oreal and Diageo, or supporting the Reuters newsroom as a commercial lead, I was always selling, whether that be a vision, a brand’s future, or a partnership.

After nearly six years at Reuters, I joined VRƵ Ventures in April of last year. So, to summarize: Christmas Tree Salesman > Political Science graduate > Ad Tech Startup > Beauty Marketer > Liquor Marketer > News Commercial Lead > Venture Capitalist. It’s the perfect example that no career path is the same!

What attracted you to Reuters initially, and how did that evolve into your current role?

I joined Reuters after working on the media buy-side for most of my career. What was meant to be a short consulting engagement ended up being a great career decision. At L’Oreal, they always talked about being a company focused on innovation because they were founded by scientists. I found a similar story with Paul Julius Reuter, starting with a network of carrier pigeons to what Reuters offers today is an incredible story of innovation and business intuition.

It was incredible to work for a mission-driven organization and to work with the smartest people in the world. The transition from Reuters to VRƵ Ventures allowed me to leverage all my previous experience while stepping into the exciting world of venture investing, where I now serve as a steward of capital for VRƵ.

You made a significant career pivot into venture capital. What skills transferred, and what were the biggest learning curves?

I’ve always been in positions where a combination of Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Intelligence Quotient (IQ) was needed. I saw the quantitative analysis of an opportunity and the qualitative analysis of the people behind the deal as equally important. The fast-paced world of sales, media, and news, definitely keeps you conditioned for any industry transition.

VRƵ Ventures allows me to rotate between many different skills I’ve learned over my career. Some days it’s prospecting for the best founders, other days it’s marketing to build the VRƵ Ventures brand, thinking strategically about the big picture, or rolling up my sleeves to join a sales call with a portfolio company CEO.

What I’ve learned is that Adversity Quotient (AQ) is just as important as EQ and IQ. I’ve found comfort in my ability to face adversity and remain resilient through change to achieve successful outcomes.

How do you build credibility quickly when stepping into new domains or teams?

I was fortunate to move within an organization where I already had relationships, but switching from Reuters to VRƵ required keeping the same mindset: being eager to learn and eager to help. Although I joined in a senior position, I remained willing to learn and support even the most trivial tasks.

Thankfully, with AI and OpenArena (VRƵ’ internal AI sandbox), I was able to build venture operational tools to level the playing field and quickly accelerate my work output. These tools helped with research, drafting, and social media. What I built was rewarded as a top AI solution, and I became a mentor to colleagues, helping them build similar solutions.

This flywheel effect of learning, helping, and executing quickly builds a respected reputation among peers and colleagues.

What’s your approach to skill-building, and what advice would you give to someone starting their career?

I really enjoy readingThe Alchemistany time I’m going through change or starting a new journey. It grounds me and helps me be self-aware of my gaps. For example, transitioning to Ventures gave me the opportunity to work on my financial modeling skills.

I truly value the network of peers and colleagues I’ve established over my career. Any time I make a career change, I’m public about it on LinkedIn and prescriptive with key network members. This is the best way to keep opening doors.

Anyone starting their career should find opportunities to learn from more experienced colleagues. The best way is in person; natural knowledge osmosis takes place just by watching others’ habits. It’s our duty as senior leaders to notice when newer professionals join and share time answering questions, even if they’re not on our team.

How do you evaluate new opportunities, and how has your criteria evolved?

In my previous role, it was my job to champion partnerships and help them navigate organizational complexity. In venture investing, I’m less a champion and more a steward of capital for VRƵ. I have to be more judicious in my conviction to “yes.”

There’s a fine balance between being a champion for partners and being an investor. Learning to leverage “no, and” is just as powerful as “yes.” We follow a standard rubric focusing on Series A opportunities with revenue north of $1M. When I first started, I had as many calls as possible to learn about industries and polish my approach. Today, I have more of a filter, though I do try to meet with ambitious founders.

My criteria remain consistent: Is there a compelling story? Is there a path to “yes”? And am I leaving the business and people around me better than when we started?

Thank you to Josef for sharing your career experience with us today. To learn more about VRƵ Ventures, please visit

A Sneak Peek into Building Fiduciary-Grade AI /en-us/posts/our-purpose/a-sneak-peek-into-building-fiduciary-grade-ai/ Fri, 13 Mar 2026 17:05:11 +0000 https://blogs.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/?post_type=our_purpose_post&p=69983 What’s it like building cutting-edge, trustworthy AI for tax and accounting professionals, where accuracy truly matters? We sat down with Mike, who is leading development on one of the core agentic assistants for CoCounsel, to hear what energizes him about the work, the technology, and the impact on customers.

What’s one word you would use to describe working at VRƵ?

Working at VRƵ in one word would be energizing. I really enjoy working on a large product like CoCounsel. There is so much momentum, and I get to collaborate with a fully cross-functional team to solve complex problems. Everyone is thinking about product improvements beyond their immediate area, and there are so many opportunities to learn from one another every day.

How do engineers here think about reliability when building AI‑powered products?

Because we’re building AI for professionals, trust, accuracy, and reliability are at the forefront of everything we do, both in our development processes and in the product’s functionality. Every code change needs to be well-tested and resilient. The insights generated by the product must be supported by evidence and citations grounded in our best-in-class research content.

Why is now an exciting time to work at VRƵ?

VRƵ is an incredibly exciting place to be right now. I’m currently leading development on one of our core agentic assistants, and the work is absolutely cutting-edge. We’re defining new patterns for agent execution using AWS, while also building scalable APIs and web user interfaces to bring those capabilities to life.

What makes VRƵ a great place for innovation is that it’s truly at the forefront of embracing new tools and approaches. I have access to the best models, coding assistants, and learning resources through collaborations and connections to Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI. We’ve also recently enabled approaches that let us delegate work to autonomous agents in the cloud, which allows me to work on changes across the stack simultaneously.

Share with us what it’s like building AI for highly regulated industries.

There is a unique sense of purpose in building AI for highly regulated industries. Unlike in previous roles where the stakes were lower, accuracy is everything here. We aren’t just directing someone to a help desk article; we are providing answers that impact a person’s financial wellbeing. We take that responsibility seriously, investing deeply in the guardrails and evaluation processes needed to get it right.

Ultimately, our work is about the people we serve. My work helps tax and accounting professionals automate document analysis and access trusted guidance, enabling them to provide deeper support to their clients. If you’re looking for a place where you can own significant features and solve hard problems alongside a team that genuinely cares about doing great work, now is the perfect time to join us.

Thank you to Mike for sharing his insights on what it takes to build cutting-edge, fiduciary-grade AI that professionals can rely on. At VRƵ, we’re looking for curious and committed innovators to help us continue shaping the future of professional work. Check out our .

In 2025, the VRƵ Social Impact, Government Affairs & ESG teams helped strengthen communities where we live and work through skills-based volunteering, community partnerships, and technology that advances justice. The highlights below reflect our key achievements over the past year, the people behind them, and our commitment to creating lasting, positive impact.

2025 impact at a glance

  • 165employees participated in our Social Impact Sprint
    • 40nonprofits supported across6countries
    • 1,392pro bono hours (estimated value$306,240) *

Together for Good: Skills-Based Volunteering and Community Service

Our colleagues came together to create meaningful change through the power of service. Our fifth annual Social Impact Sprint saw 165 employees lend their expertise as pro bono consultants to 40 nonprofits across six countries, contributing 1,392 hours of skilled support valued at over $306,240. Building on this spirit of impact, during our annual Global Volunteer Day, teammates dedicated over 8,200 volunteer hours to support more than 100 nonprofit organizations in 20 countries. To end the year, employees in Minnesota and Texas collected 650 toys for children in their communities. These efforts reflect our shared commitment to using our time and talent to make a lasting difference.

Technology with Purpose: Data, Training, and Research to Advance Justice

We expanded our human trafficking training efforts, hosting two panels to help employees understand various forms of human trafficking and how VRƵ utilizes data and technology to support global anti-trafficking efforts. We also partnered with VRƵ Special Services on a report to uncover unique insights into the disappearances and trafficking of Indigenous peoples in Canada. In addition, we helped fund groundbreaking research by the International Justice Mission exploring the intersection of two emerging global threats in Southeast Asia: the financially motivated sextortion of children and forced scamming operations.

Partnering for Progress: Rule of Law, AI in Courts, and Long-Term Collaboration

In 2025, we marked with Lawyers Without Borders to advance the rule of law. By combining their grassroots legal expertise with our people, technology, and publishing capabilities, this collaboration has delivered training, tools, and resources to legal professionals and communities in more than 10countries—including training1,000+legal professionals and reaching35,000households in Kenya.

The VRƵ Institute and the National Center for State Courts continued their jointAI Policy Consortium for Law and Courts, helping judicial leaders navigate opportunities, risks, and responsible adoption of AI (including generative AI). The consortium aims to support ethical, effective integration of AI across the U.S. court system. A November webinar focused on AI literacy attracted nearly6,000registrants.

As we reflect on 2025, these milestones underscore the power of collaboration, innovation, and purpose-driven action. We’re proud of the colleagues and partners who helped advance justice, strengthen communities, and support more sustainable corporate citizenship in 2025—and we’ll continue building on that momentum in the year ahead.
