Checkpoint Tools for PPC are a collection of productivity tools created in Microsoft Word and Excel templates that help with your client engagements. It consists of four categories - Engagement Letter Generator, Disclosure Libraries, Practice Aids, and Workpapers.
Engagement Letter Generator
This contains letter templates for audit, attest, and tax engagements. You can select the type of client, engagement, period end dates, and additional paragraph text. These templates are updated annually.
From the home screen, double-click to expand PPC's Engagement Letter Generator for a list of templates. They're organized by date and engagement type. Double-click a letter template to open it in Word and customize it to meet your needs.
Disclosure Libraries
Disclosure Libraries help make sure you're following professional standards. These checklists have every pronouncement under current rules. The library has hundreds of examples of disclosure wording that you can use in Notes to Financial Statements. A Disclosure Checklist has five worksheets: Introduction, Part I, Part II, Subsequent Pronouncements, and Comments. Each of these worksheets are separate sheets in Microsoft Excel.
Practice Aids
Practice Aids include PPC audit programs, checklists, and sample letters from corresponding guides.
From the home screen, double-click to expand PPC's Practice Aids for a list categorized in alphabetical order. Many practice aids have multiple years. You can open any document in Word and use Practice Aid functionality with or without paperless engagement software.
Workpapers
This is for documenting sections of engagement work. PPC creates and updates these Excel spreadsheets with numeric calculations, dynamic content, and automated schedules.
Each Excel template has cells that are formatted differently so you know what you should do with them.
- White cells are the data entry fields you use to enter information.
- Yellow cells are calculations that you shouldn't edit.
- Gray cells are blank fields that aren't applicable.
- Cells with guidance notes have a small red triangle in the upper-right corner. Hover over the triangle to review the guidance note.
Additional guidance can also appear depending on how you answer questions or enter information. For example, answering Yes or No on a question may make additional, relevant information or questions appear.
